Even though now a days some 10 year olds seem very mature and very responsible I would NOT let a 10 year old babysit! For one its a state law that they have to be 12 to be left alone without parents present. BUT I think 10 would be wayyyy too young to handfle any emergency that may come up. How would they handle an injury with blood involved? A fire in the kitchen? They r just not mentally ready for that kind of rational thinking! Id say 13 is a great age to start

It depends on the level of experience you have.. not so much the age... there could be a 16 year old who isnt as good with kids as some 10 year olds but if you want the people to trust you try settin up a schedule with them around so they can see how you act around the kids and how you handle different situations then they can decide whether they would want you back or not...
good luck

no a 10 year is still too immature to handle and emerencey without freaking out, in most states children under 11 cant be left alone so to have a 10 year old baysitter is breaking the law. I would say 13 is a good year to start babysitting

It depends on the situation and the ages of the children you would be sitting with. If you have younger brothers or sisters; have you baby sit for your parents with the younger ones? How mature you are and if you know what to do in an emergency situation would be the biggest questions a parent would want to know. Good Luck

probably not. But it does depend on the 10yr old. Like how responsible is the 10 yr old? I did do some babysitting when I was 10, but I grew up in a home where I was made to be responsible.

It's a little young to start. You might be mature and responsible for your age, but parents can't take any chances. If you take a babysitting course and you can prove you're a reliable kid, maybe you can get babysitting jobs when you're eleven or twelve.

No, because if someone needed to be taken to the emergency room, you couldn't drive. If someone broke in, you're too young to defend yourself. If something horrible happened, you might get freaked out-you're ten.
I'd wait 2 or 3 years.

Well, it depends. My family began babysitting at eleven, but we're all very mature. In some cases, a sixteen year old couldn't babysit. It all depends on personal maturity.
