If you want a tree that will not grow very big, you should try a redbud or dogwood. Do not plant them too deep. Small trees have roots that grow on top of the ground or just barely under the topsoil. If you plant them too deep, you will kill them.

Crape myrtle (white, purple, or red-violet blooms). Blooming right now. I also have a weeping cherry. It blooms pale pink in the early spring. You also might consider a pink dogwood ... they are beautiful.
