I live in an apartment with door slammers all around my apartment. The folks living in these units are heavy, crude, and stomp around like they have something against the floor and cabinets. I've been a quiet person my whole life. I know a person should expect some noise in an apartment but DAMN. Noisiest complex I have ever been in. And don't get me started about the massive home entertainment systems that folks have that you can hear through the wall. And when a war movie or war video game is on I just gotta get the hell outta that place. Like right now.

Isn't it amazing how some people become partially def once they enter their apartment?

To answer your question, the reason some folks are so rough around the edges, is to make the rest of us look so damn smooth.

If you otherwise like your place you might invest in some Bose headphones they are designed to keep out all noise! Living in an apartment is hard, quite often you are put next to people who have no courtesy for others. I wouldn't suggest complaining for fear you become the "witch" of the neighborhood. Start to save and buy a house. People in houses know that they have to live next to eachother for a very long time and had better act nice. This is just a general observation not a hard and fast rule of course!

Sorry to 'hear' that you must 'hear' all this. . .

I live on a major hiway - fast traffic goes by almost all hours - guess I've become accustomed to it - UNTIL - one of those 'monster sound vehicles' come BOOMING by. . .
fortunately they are on the move, away from me --- but, while they are passing, the frames on my walls are rattling.

We have a motorcycle parade here, every holiday season - hundreds of bikers thunder by - I wear my stereo headset when this is happening; it works very well - I can 'see' rather than 'hear' the parade, while I listen to Mozart or Bach, or Disney's light parade recording . . . the contrast is awesome.

Because their parents were rough around the edges, too.
