Yes! I had one. If it have not been abused, get one.They are solid, 5 cylinder just a bit more noisy than 6 in the newer model but it have iron head instead of aluminum therefore is more reliable.They can outlast just about anything out there. 123 body might be a little heavier made than 126 but the last one looks better. The only thing you need to remember is to keep up with maintenance, it is Mercedes but it needs attention just like any other car,filters,oil etc,. You do that, you'll be a happy driver for a very long time.

Well I'll put it to you this way. If the car has ben well maintained, kept in a garage, and driven by a little old lady, then I would say you have a good chance of getting a decent car. Anybody that knows that diesel engines can be very reliable and usually will outlast the rest of the car. But if any of those things are lacking, then I probably would stay away. Just food for thought.

Yes , they are great @ 200,000 miles you R just making the engine feel great you and me will die and the 300D will go for long long time... is one of the best build, make sure you have a good battery and the services are the key to make the car reliable. Always change the oil and Diesel filters, is a good idea to put in the tank RED LION it kills the allege in the tank . i will said GO FOR IT..

YES VERY VERY reliable my dad is a master technition for mercedes benz and he even wants me to buy one because there such great cars i have a 1974 Mercedes Benz 240D and its been beaten soooo bad and its still in good shape if its for sale and in good condition buy it thats what i would do.

Actually, that's probably one of the most reliable cars ever built. With proper care, it can go 1,000,000 miles or more with no major repairs.
