american cotton farmers have benefited immensely because of u.s. subsidies and tarrifs on imported cotton. unfortuantely this has resulted in an artificial devaluation of cotton prices on the world market. but that doesn't hurt the good old u.s. of a.
american defense industries have also benefited immensely. starting wars in other countires mean they need to build more bombs, more planes, more humvees, and more guns to supply the u.s. and the countries the u.s. supplies. nevermind the tens of thousands of civilians who've died as a result of those defense industry products.
logitistics companies like haliburton have benefitted immensely because they are owned by members of the administration and are given billion dollar no bid gov't contracts for doing little if no work. never mind the reservist who lost his real job back home because he was forced to serve 2 additional tours, lost his home because his pathetic reserve pay wasn't enought to pay the mortgage, and lost his life protecting a civilian contractor who makes 5 times what the soldier makes for doing a job any soldier could do.
don't even get me started on not siging kyoto and the damage it's done to the environment.

Perhaps not signing Kyoto and the disruption of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan along with other terrorist networks being disrupted. The missile defense system seems promising, so withdrawl from the ABM treaty I would say was a good thing. Libya converting to a goodie-tu-shu seemed to be an indirect consequence of the global policy which seemed rather beneficial. Pakistan is better than it was before when it was a malignant terrorist supporter and nuclear proliferator. Cant think of much else.

EDIT: Akinnon you are an idiot.

i think the benefit is that it has awakened a lot of american people to the truth of how our government operates and how bad it can get. hopefully, these years of outright obvious atrocities will help more people to become more active and less passive when it comes to making important decisions, standing up for what's just, not letting the minority in power take over the rights and will of the people. the poor policy making and infringements on human rights and health of all has been an impetus for people to gather together in community to foster positive change in many ways. it is quite possible that if a democrat was in office all this time, a lot of us would still be sleeping, thinking that everything is ok when it really isn't. in a sense this is a blessing because it has the potential to force us to evolve in a big way.

Bush's policies have had a huge NEGATIVE effect on our nation. There are far more terrorists in far flung parts of the globe with diverse affiliations speaking many languages with more support from ordinary citizens reacting to our shock and awe tactics and simplistic spreading democracy obsession. Bush's war has bankrupt the nation and created a war-profiteering bonanza dependent on the terrorist scares that he has exacerbated. Bush has cost the US international standing and respect by his go-it-alone, preemptive tactics. Our military is depleted of equipment and the best most able recruits. Bush's inability to differentiate between talent and incompetence, his penchant to reward loyalty and campaign generosity, and his disinterest in actually governing have undermined every single federal department, agency, and program when upper management positions have been filled by cronies, talent has hemorrhaged.

We have? I'd say our nation has gotten poorer. We're spending so much money on OTHER people that our OWN people are hurting.
