The only safe place to get human milk is from a milk bank. You need a doctor's prescription, and you need to pay for it. See sources section below. It is thought that some viruses (including HIV) may be transmitted via human milk, so all donors are carefully screened before being accepted by a milk bank.
There are, however, those women who do choose to buy and sell milk privately. It is risky, but it is done. You can probably find information by doing a Web search.
P.S. There is *not* a milk bank in Sacramento, California; it is in San Jose. But the milk banks routinely ship milk, so it doesn't matter if one is near you or not.

Type it into a search engine and you can find some. I heard that their are woman that do sell it so I looked it up because I thought the person that told me was insane. It's true though. I think it's great that you are going to great lengths to provide your baby with the best milk possible. Just be careful. You dont' know what these woman that are selling it are into (drugs, alcohol eating foods that could not agree with your baby etc.).
I'm sure there are some woman that are legite but some that are just needing money for unnecessary things (drugs or alcohol).
Good luck.

Yes I have breast milk that I would like to sell or even just give away. My daughter is almost 2 months old and I had to switch her to formula :( I have at least 20 bags of milk stored in the deep freezer. I was pumping and getting prepared to go back to work when she started getting sick and her pedi. thought it was best to switch to formula. I was very sad that I couldn't feed her breast milk any longer so I would really hate to see this milk go to waste.

I still have some in my freezer... It is almost 7 years old and you probably wouldn't want it... I wouldn't sell it anyway.
Did you know you can get AIDS from breast milk/nursing among other things?
So if you are serious (for some stranger reason than the fact that I still have mine...) Caveat Emptor!
I still have my kids umbilical cords in cryo-freeze storage too. It's just hard for me to let go for some reason?

Actually you can get it from a commercial source. The LaLeeche League maintains a series of milk banks all throughtout the country.
You might try them. I believe they give the milk to mothers who can not feed or have feeding problems, based on need. Not financialy need mind you but on the reason for the mom not being able to produce enough milk for baby,

I believe you can find a place online for screened breast milk for sale. It's pricey, and not from you, but if that's what you prefer.
They screen for viruses and diseases...

Your local hospital should be able to steer you in the right direction. They usually have a list of people you/they can get breast milk from for babies who need it and can't get it from their mother for whatever reason.

I wouldn't suggest buying breast milk. You are trusting a stranger to feed your child. Who KNOWS what she's been eating/drinking/smoking?
Use formula. If you reall need it to feed a baby, use formula. Not store brand, and probably soy since it's easier on the stomach.

Serious replies only: I have breast milk for sale. I am producing more than baby needs and have several months worth frozen. I am healthy, non-smoker, non-drinker. Please post your response.

Personally, I'd prefer to only take expressed milk from other moms I know or from a milk bank. If those aren't options for you and you need milk from a stranger, I'd suggest asking them to be tested first to make sure they are clean...not a drug user, don't have hepatitis or HIV, etc. Contact your local La Leche League or Attachment Parenting International chapter to find out if they know anyone in your area who would donate or sell expressed milk. They may be able to help you get in touch with a mother in your area who can help.
Why are you looking for donated milk/milk to purchase? Are you having supply problems or latch problems that we could help you solve?
