stretch once or twice a day. first do you left leg for about 15 seconds, then your right for 15. its important to stretch both legs even if you have you left split alll the way down. you should do this when you watching T.V to take you mind off the pain a bit. Also when going into your right splits don't think oh my gosh this is going to hurt so bad, think i can do my right splits. the more positive you think the easier things come. trust me.
*TWO VERY IMPORTANT NOTES*
-make sure you warm up before you go into the splits. if you dont you won't be able to go as far, and you might pull something. try doing some plies for a warm up. a good stretche to do is the buterfly. I also find that it helps to hang at your waistgrab you ancles, and walk the length or a room while doing that.
-don't over stretch. even though you want to get your splits down really bad, you shouldn't over do it. just like rubber bands, if you stretch them to much the lose there elasticity.
HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK!

keep practicing both sides what ever u do! if u only practice and stretch out yr right side it could actually make the other splits worse. try doing an over split (where u put yr (in yr case right foot) up on something so when u go down into yr split yr goal is to actually go further than a noraml split) after holding that then try just a normal split u should go further. another thing 2 do is 2 hold yr split, then come up a little bit, then go back down into yr split (u might go down even further than before)! Good Luck!

When i was in gymnastics i used to do splits. When we were doing warm ups my coach used to make us put up one leg on higher ground and the other on the floor in the split position and then she would sit on us till we touched the ground. It was physically impossible and it was extremely painful. I'm not telling you to do that. What you should do is stretch your leg as much as possible but do not forget the over stretching can be dangerous because you could tear a muscle. Good luck with your coach, i know mine was horrible.

OK first do the center spilt for 3 minutes.Than do your left spilt for 4 minutes.Next do your right spilt for 5 minutes and each day add a minute to each leg if this too long do 2 minutes each but twice a day you will definally get it down.It also helps to be listing to music or watch tv if you can to get your mind of ohh i have 1 more minute left and you will forget about the paain and just have fun.

don't rush please, you may hurt yourself!
also don't get so anxious. you need to be calm and relaxed during stretching. if you keep up this anxiety it'll be hard for your body to relax.
warm up. only stretch muscles that are warm.
do resistance stretching, it improves rather than just maintain.
push against the floor in full turned-out [or squared] splits position. position your arms on either side to support you. hold the position for 20secs, breathe while stretching! release a bit.
push further down, hold that new position, 20secs, release a bit.
push furthest towards the floor, hold 30secs, release to a half-split and shake your legs.
next, lie down, knee to your chest, get a spotter to hold your left hip down. straighten from bent position and hold for 20secs. relax, knee to your chest from that position (it should be much closer this time round). breathe in, and when you breathe out, SLOWLY, straighten your right leg up, it should be even further now. get your spotter to help. don't tense! hold for 20secs, slowly release.
if you can, use a door frame or the wall (make sure you are supported well) to stretch. place your leg up in developpe and press against the wall. do it anytime and anywhere so long as you feel you are 'warm' enough. i work and i always do this when i go for a toilet break...!
you should have no problem getting it down square, in 2 weeks or so. remember to be cautious, don't injure yourself, don't rush it, don't tense! stretching in the mornings see more results. =))
do it everyday and you'll get it hopefully! :D

Stretch all the time. Like even when you watch TV! That's one of the best because you can sit there a long time and not be bored. And while doing homework, anything that you can do sitting on the ground or other space :) Hope I helped.

Seriously stretch every tiem you can. The only way to get splits is through repetition. Also try laying on your back and pulling your right leg to you.

start sitting in a V sit... stretch to the right for 8 counts, to the left for 8, and center for 8.
then, pike... lean down for 8 counts toes pointed, 8 counts toes flexed then stretch further down for 8 toes pointed
roll ankles and wrists... stretch them here.
butterfly for 8... the lean over your legs for 8
stand with feet parallel... lean down for 8 counts.
stand in 1st position... down for 8
2nd position... down for 8
Right split, hold for 8... then, if you are all the way down, pull your left foot to touch your head for another 8, or if you aren't in a complete split, just press yourself down further for 8...
repeat all that with the left split
go to a middle split and hold for 8
just make sure you stretch everything... not just your right... you dont want to be a lopsided dancer!
do theses stretches immediatly upon waking in the morning and after your bath at night... those are the 2 BEST times to increase flexibility...

stretch often. then do your split (as good as you can) for 20 seconds. stretch again. then repeat your split. do this over and over again for at least 5 minutes.
