I know quite a few people who don't have or watch any TV.
They spend their time playing board games- one of them, my better friend, is a really good chess player- doing something creative such as knitting and sewing/embroidery, reading lots, playing music and singing, talking and having debates, going on walks and collecting flowers, garderning, writing books and stories, wood and metal work and DIY.
Personally I hardly watch TV, apart from CSI and a few films. I have always preferred reading right from the age of 4. I think that the whole world should not revolve around the TV, and that anyone who says that they can't go without Tv either have something wrong with them or that they are just plain stupid and weak. Precious skills could be learnt instead of gawping at the TV.

When my TV broke down 2 years ago, i refused to get another set because i actually enjoyed sitting down with my son, we had long chats and when he went out ... I'd sit and read! Then last year i was bed ridden for a good while so my partnr bought a new TV set. I have to say i watch it from time to time but not all the time. Maybe 2/3 times a week! I enjoy it when i watch it but then ... That's because there is something on i really really want to watch! My dogs take a lot of my time, reading and writing do as well so really ... TV is just a thing, not everything (To me anyway)

When I was a kid I remember a couple of my older aunts living in a big house with no TV, but this was back in the 70s. What did they do? Housework, reading books and taking care of each other and some older friends who couldn't get around. In my "kid's perspective" I thought it was all pretty boring.
Pretty soon someone will post a question like "Do you know anyone who doesn't have a cell phone" and I'd raise my hand for myself!

A few of my friends don't. Like the others above said, they have conversations, play music, read.
With all the rubbish and drivel on TV, it's a much better alternative to spending spare time at home.

It could be that the reason they don't have a tv is because they don't have a bunch of spare time to watch it. They may be working, active with a group/organization, indulging in a hobbie, or just social.

I can't remember the last time I sat and watched TV!
What do I do with my spare time? I sit at the computer for hours answering questions like yours! LOL

I have relatives who do not have either tv or radio and they are the busiest people I know. Also some of the kindest and most giving of their time to not only family but others as well.

I don't have one, I have a much better social life now and spend my time much better than when I did have one.
I can't say I miss it either. Life is too short to spend in front of a tv watching rubbish programmes. There is so much other stuff to do!!
