I am going to have surgery and will be an out-patient but I won't be able to do anything, so rather than lay on the couch in front of the TV/computer all day I figured I might as well use some of the time to go outside and get a good tan. I will definitely wear sunscreen because otherwise I will get freckles instead of a tan but when I wear sunscreen I tan fairly easily.

My question is, how long should I lay out in the sun for each day, front and back? Is there any tricks I can use to get a better tan? Thanks a lot.

30 minutes each side should give you a base coat. Providing the UV is between 8-10. Then after that, add 20 minutes to each side everytime you go out.

Well, I am not exactly sure, but do NOT forget to use sunscreen! Also, make sure that you try to remember sunglasses too.

Tans can be somewhat dangerous becauseof the heat and light rays from the sun, so I suggest 10-20 minutes on and then about ten minutes off. Or, you could just try it and keep going back inside to check up on yourself every 20 minutes.

Don't stay out to long and DO NOT use artaficial tanning as it is proven to cause diseases/ sicknesses and is dangerous.

Good luck and happy tanning!

Do 30 minutes on each side. It depends on your skin and how well you tan to know how long. Some sun exposure is actually good for you. Just don't let yourself burn. Maybe you should try a sunscreen with a lower SPF just as long as you know how low you can go without burning. Or use Tanning oil with sunscreen in it. But I wouldn't put that on your face. Use reg. sunscreen for your face.

It works best for me if I sit out at least 45 minutes every other day. I swim regularly so I am sitting by a pool which is so wonderful. I hate to lay on my stomach so I do the back of my legs only about once a week. I only use sunscreen on my face and no where else.
