If you are doing your own accounts and purely getting them to do end of year, tax returns etc then no more than £2-300 would be about right. However, if they are doing everything i.e. v.a.t. returns, monthly accounts, p.a.y.e. etc. then you could be looking at £1000 +. It does also depend on what part of the country you are in, how complicated your accounts are, how many employees, do you rent premises or run from your own home, what type of business you run, etc. etc. I would need more info before I could comment further. I used to do the accounts for a shared ltd compant with a turnover of £500,000 ish and I paid my accountant no more than £600 a year. If you want any further info I would be more than happy to help. Let me know & good luck.

Why would an Accountant be "running the Company"? If you engage a practicing Chartered Accountant to maintain the financial records - he/she is going to charge you by the hour plus expenses.

It depends what they are doing for you.

I doubt there is an audit requirement with a company that small so what do they do? Book keeping? Payroll?
