If you want to get rid of that problem, do this after your internet session ends:
Internet Explorer 6:
1. Click on Tools, and then Internet Options.
2. Click on Contents
3. Click Autocomplete, then clear forms and then click ok. You are done.
Mozilla Fiorefox:
Tools> Options> Privacy> Saved Forms> and then uncheck "save information I enter in the forms". You are done.
Also, you can edit the History option in any browser. Clear history so that the history of visited pages will be vanished. Also delete cookies.

I'm not sure how to delete it, but you can turn the feature off (I hate mine too). Assuming that you're on Windows, go to the Control Panel and select Internet Options. It should have tabs on the top that say General, Security, Privacy, etc... Click on the last one, Advanced, and scroll down until you see the checkbox that says "Use inline AutoComplete". That should turn it off.

To get rid of IE history, see this site. To delete Google search info, delete all your cookies. That is where they are held.

Do a clean-up under internet options, history, cache, cookie....etc.
Then you might also have an option to delete the search words under tab options.
