Depends. If the reputation is deserved and the person continues to act accordingly, then it will stick. If the reputation is way off, anyone who knows that person will see that it is ridiculous and the rep will die off.
People change, and eventually, so do their reputations.

I think that some reps are hard to get rid of - but it all depends. Normally if you want to change your rep you would start to associate with a new group of people or meet some new friends - that is the easiest way because they don't know your old rep - just the current you.
If you are still around the same people who knew the old you - yea it can be hard and unfair because all people should be given a second chance and have the right to change. Life is all about finding out who you are and sometimes in the course of figuring that out, we make mistakes and it isn't fair to be punished for them forever. So - if you or whoever this person is wants to change but it still around the same people - just try to change and maybe people will notice that effort and slowly the old image of you will fade away and the new one will be accepted and respected - Don't worry so much about the others though - even though that is hard - just try to be true to who you are and then you know in your heart that you are trying to be the best person you can be and if some people aren't willing to see past the old image then those people aren't worth it, are they?? Real and true friends would understand and be willing to stick around and let the past go. The past helps make us who we are but it does not define us so don't let anyone define you by it.

Yes unless you start a fresh in a new place, or remove the reputation by removing the people who created the label for you from your life.

It depends on others around them. If they are too closed minded to see that people can change and devlop over time, then it's out of that person's hands.

No not always. I used to be a hard partier, very hard. Six years later I go home to visit my friends and they know not to ask me out to party. Ive grown and so have my responsibility's, they know that and respect that.
