It does seem this way...we seem to come with a much longer "care instruction" package. I wish I could trace the origins of such a concept. The best part about getting older is you cease to care what others think. This is very liberating. I rolled out of bed, grabbed a quick shower, messed with my hair only minimally, threw on my shades and took off for parts unknown. In the old days, I would have fussed and mussed for much longer. It probably has something to do with wanting to attract a mate and then keeping them around afterward. We are often evaluated by all the wrong things. Dare to be who you are is all I can say...but I must warn you...it isn't for wimps! Maybe if more of us adopt this view things can get better. Good Luck.

Well men are men and women are women..... this is purely a the result of social upbringing that has for ages been dictated by what the society expects from MEN and WOMEN. Y
You will have answered your question in some of the similar other social behaviour expected from women and men... e.g. why is it socially unaccepetd for men to cry in public, or in so many unpteen ads where the little boys are shown to be naughty and DIRTY but little girls are not.
Well as to your second part - why it is expected of women to groom themselves - well man was the one who went out to hunt, took care of families food & security, thus he reallly never had time to groom himself and there was no societal presure on him to do it -BUT pressure was there for man to play the role of caretaker and a provider - thus the society pressure was on women to groom themselves and to kep the house neat and clean.
But as the society is now changing, many men are into grooming themselves - thus the urge to groom was always there , but it is only now that it is finding expression AND at the same time there are profession like Doctors where women do not groom as much a s say a house wife might and the society too does not expect the women doctor to groom themselves

Serious answer, I don't think ANY guy forces a woman to groom, they choose to do so themselves. Truth to tell, woman are not as beautiful or glamourous naturally as they are when they are fully made up. All woman improve themselves in little ways even with minimal makeup. Some women actually won't even go into the streets without makeup as they feel naked. I've gone home with some women who were gorgeous at night but you wake up next to them and it's almost a different person and it's not just the alcohol.
Point being women choose to put on makeup and groom, it makes them look better, gives them more confidence and help them attract richer or better looking guys than they could attract without their makeup. Giving a choice between pain and looking good or natural and feeling average, many women choose the pain route otherwise how do you explain high heel shoes. Women have to admit as a sex they choose to do this, don't blame it on us men. Although we do appreciate it, that is when it isn't us waiting hours on end for you to finish.

I understand the place you're coming from yet females get the same form of "grooming". look at how many attractiveness classified ads there are in magazines, television, information superhighway each and each a sort of is telling a females to look extra attractive and in case you dont look like the type you will never hit upon a guy. There are one hundred weight-reduction plan classified ads specializing in females dropping weight. In those comparable females's magazines that talk approximately which 'adult males to stay away from' there are additionally articles telling females the thank you to 'act and characteristic a character which will charm to adult males'. adult males don't have it worse...Society as an entire (adult males and ladies) have it undesirable. no person will ever be sensible, or sturdy looking sufficient because of media we come upon each and on a daily basis. end complaining anybody has to handle it not in basic terms adult males.

i don't care if my girlfriend grooms constantly, actually my ex was always messing with her hair, and it drove me nuts because i liked it when she let it down. also, i think that it would be kinda sexy to have a women look the way she does after waking up, all day. i on the other hand, like to have my hair shampood at the haircutters, and my hair has to be just perfect, and not to much of one way or the other, so i am always trying to fix my hair to make it look just the right way.

It's not natural. The display of women in pop-culture shows people who do those things constantly. Many pop-culture males take pride in their lack of grooming so regular males do as well.

no no no guys need to do as much as us we just enjoy it more so you hear about girls doing stuff not guys. guys dont talk about it like girls do. My brother is a prime example and his friends he sometimes takes longer than me to get ready. He likes to take care of himself and that is ok. i think guys are just not open about it. i always see guys getting their nails and hair done just like us.look for it more and youll know.
