I have been labeled a felon by my state, but that does not make me a felon. I have had a very tough life including much that I wish that I had not done. I am much a different person than many years ago. However, it is not that I have turned my life around. It is more just a continuation of the path that I am on. All that I have done in the past, what some call bad or good, is what brought me to where I am today… a very good place indeed. So, there was nothing to turn around... you see?

Yes. Someone who was convicted for murder as a teenager. The person participated in all kinds of programs in prison, picking up useful skills, and was very intelligent from the start. The person was released from prison and fell in love, began going to college, and is even employed. When you look at job applications, read where it asks about your crime. It asks how long ago you were CONVICTED - not when you were released. Some jobs don't even ask, and you can work off the books if you can find the work. It's better to try getting work ON the books because your parole probably has a condition that you must have an official job on record. As for school - ENROLL! Take online courses. Try to avoid selecting a program that your crime will ruin your chances of getting a job in that field some day. Don't know your crime or what state you're in - IT MATTERS... Best of luck. Hope it works out.

Prison does one of two things to ones life.It either makes you a more dedicated criminal or makes you never want to do anything that can cause you to have to return.
There are countless people that have made a mistake and after returning from prison prove to be A1 citizens and assets to their community. Many have helped others like themselves to take hold of their lives and "better" there chances of never going back to prison ever again.
I own a business and I have two people that work for me that have been in prison.I would and do trust them with my life.

I know a person who is a felon, has a new life now, left all that crime life behind, with steady job, new friend, new life. Turned out pretty good.

A friend of mine from church, who spent 25 years in prison, at least part of it in one of the worst prisons in Louisiana. He recently got out, and I know of very few people more decent, hard-working, or Christian than he is.

My next door neighbor....he did about 10 years in TDC for some misbehavior when he was young while he was on drugs including striking a police officer....Now he and his girlfriend are very hard working people who keep their house very clean and are very responsible....I admire him for that.
