Nokias hold up better, Motorola's are nicer. You could probably drop a Nokia off a building and it would just get a little dinged up but still work, so if you're looking for durability, Nokia is your best bet. They're also very simple to use and have very good battery lives (most have up to 7 or 10 day standby and 10 hour talk time. They also have a million faceplates and interchangeable number pads so you can customize it better. It's also very good for text messaging. But unfortunately they're a little bigger and clunkier. However, if you're looking for a nice flip-phone that's sleek and easier to carry, then Motorola's are better. Most are pretty small and nice-looking. However, their downside is less battery life and much less durable. Also a little more complicated to use. Reception mostly depends on your service provider. I have T-Mobile, and the Nokia got a little better service than my Mom's Motorola or our new Samsungs get. But if you live in an area that typically has good service, then it shouldn't really matter.
Make sure you check into battery life, talktime, plans, simplicity, and more before deciding. Go to your server's store and look at the display models (rather than buying it offline without seeing the phone for real).
The choice is yours. lol!

That depends on what you are looking for. If you are in an area that has lots of towers, they will both probably work the same. I am a huge Nokia fan, but when my Nokia was stolen they replaced it with a Motorola. I have not had too much trouble with the Motorola, but I miss my Nokia. In general I have found that Nokia is much better on reception and hearing ability (which I think is the most important part of a cell phone.) And now Nokia is coming out with more "designer" phones, for those who want all the fancy features. The one I had that was stolen flipped open to a full keyboard, it was awesome!
Hope I helped at least a little.

I would say Nokia is better and will be miles ahead from competition if they keep innovating at this rate. Once a Nokia user the loyalty factor is strong that the other brands find it hard to break. Even Motorola chief has accepted the tough competition he has against Nokia comparing the struggle to climbing Mt Everest. I am not able to get myself even look at any other mobile phone after 5 years of association with Nokia and after two upgrades.

Motorola is probably better if you are looking for a high-tech phone. Nokia is a good brand and its a great phone for a teenager. One of my first phones was a nokia! I liked it alot. But currently I have a Motorola Razr and it works really well! So it's mostly about personal preference. Hope this helps!

May be the Phone gurus should better answer this one. But from a user point of view (Used best of both before) i believe Nokia has made their mark in Mobile phone industry. They got the NAME, STYLS, FUNCTIONS and userability. Motorola may be good in other area of communication gadgets but in cell phones, They are just lifting the game up. wish them best of luck

Sold NOKIAs for years, and used them. Had a few MOTOROLAs too. I preferred the nokia, the features are easier to use and i found them to be more durable.
