Well, one would think that Family comes first, right? I think though, based on what I observe everyday, that most people ae putting their careers first. For example, in households where both parents are together both usually work full time jobs and leave their Children at some Daycare center all day, or worse they leave the children infront of a Television and/or computer all day.
I recently went to the local public library to do some research for a paper I had to write for my Ethics class. I was trying to use one of the computers to check my e-mail and each and every computer was occupied by kids (aged from 13-18) just sitting there playing on myspace, and looking up some questionable things. I was at that library for three hours and those kids never once moved during that time, and I never saw a parent come in to check on them.

Family first - reason- They are your best well wishers and will stand by you in your hour of need. They give you Love, Loyalty, Friendship, Happiness, Children, parents etc. I can't put a price tag on any of these wonderful things which a family provides and many more things which are priceless.

Career is important but it will not help you when you are incapable of working. You should use your career to become financially independent and may spend less time with your family for some time. The ultimate goal should be to get closer to your family and be independent of your career which should be a short term solution for a long term need. The long term priority is family.

Career can get you things which have a price tag like cars, TV etc. All things which have a price tag cannot be more valuable than those which are priceless. Money cannot buy friends nor happiness.

Career comes first. I don't think that is the correct way it should be done, I think your family should come first. But in todays society career comes first. You need 2 incomes to afford that great big house, that SUV, the plasma TV, Ipods, Playstation, every activity that you can cram into in a week..... and everything else materially that we give our kids.
In reality we should be giving them, a parent who is home when they get home from school, guidance, love, looking at who their friends are, morality do I need to say more. this is from a mother who works, but I have for the last 18yrs worked around my kids lives so they are not by themselves after school, cooking their our dinners. My hubby and I have worked out that one of us is always with the kids.

In my life it has always been family first. Your family was with you the day you were born and will hopefully be with you the day you die and all the time in between.

It is your families support throughout you life that gives you the foundations you need to be successful. They love you, they educate you and when you are grown with a young family of your own, you support them and educate them. Big circle. When it gets broken lives become very difficult.

Careers are important. But without the support and ability to educate yourself and gain the proper mindset to attain your goals, careers don't happen.

1. God
2. Family
3. Country
4. Career

Two and three might be interchangeable, of course, depending on how you get along with your family, but that's the basic order of priorities.
