Perhaps folks haven't understood what you ask??? Answers so far, kind of indicate that - huh? Sorry for the pain this may cause you.
I think if you type in 'adopted' in the search line, you may find lots of good references to on line places you can go. . .
Best wishes to you, in your searching - it's not easy, from either side of this societal reality.

You are looking to adopt?
or you are looking for your children, you put up for adoption?
Either way, try the orphanage, in the second case... the your children went to. If you don't know that, you could try asking social services, I assume they keep a record of these things.
I am not sure about the legal issues surrounding this, you might have to contact the adoptive parents, or mediate through social services (deepending on how old the kids are).
Hope you find them!
(not by any chance in 1979, in Thailand was it?)

Go to the agency they were adopted from and see if they have tried to contact you.
Try googling their name and birthdate and state.

China. You'll also become popular if you're white and you have a Chinese daughter. Joy.
On second thoughts, try Namibia.
