I heard from a friend that Lynard Skynard, one of my favorite bands, are a bunch of racists red necks.

Absolutely not! I've met them all...even before Ronnie died. They are gentlemen. Also the song "The Ballad of Curtis Low" is about "Shorty" Medlock, Ricky Medlock's father( a current member of the band). Listen to the words there is no discrimination in there anywhere.

No. That reputation comes from "Sweet Home Alabama" in which they seem to agree with then-governor George Wallace's actions concerning segregation. They have since said that they just wrote the song as a comic response to Neil Young's "Southern Man" and did not intend to encourage racism.

rednacks for sure, just listen to their lyrics they tell you how they treat a lady. racist, well l had a friend from Jacksonville Fl. where they are from a member of his band was related to a member of Lynard Skynard he did not like blacks or Jews.

Why oh why does everything that goes on in the south have to have something to do with racism? I'm from Atlanta, Georgia, proud of it and I happen to love Lynyrd Skynyrd. So there!

No....Your friend is just trying to stereotype them just because they're from the south.

BTW.. It's spelled " LYNYRD SKYNYRD "
