What country provide the most aid to the world?

I feel that America provided the most Aids to the world. Whether friend or foe, it time of needs, America have made effort to help. I think in the past America have helped to the point others have taken advantage of. I think the America way of life and free spirited gave others a feeling that we are imposing on them.
Therefore with the free spirit of giving and helping, other see that as a threat to there culture. When they see there country men living in America, becoming American, they see it as an insult.
I expect to get a lot of HATE response, but it okay, I have been reading all the hate for a while now.
Remember, my question is ‘who provide the most aid’, NOT ‘how much you hate America’ (I already know that)……..thanks

America and Japan, both most capitalist and wealthy, provide the LEAST foreign aid, the lowest percentage of GNP to foreign aid.

It is indeed a common misconception for americans that their country does much.. the rest just doesn't brag about it.

HERE ARE THE FACTS (you can google for it anywhere, I just got it on wikipedia):

"At the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, the world's governments adopted a program for action under the auspices of the United Nations–Agenda 21, which included an Official Development Assistance (ODA) aid target of 0.7% of gross national product (GNP) for rich nations, roughly 22 members of the OECD, known as the Development Assistance Committee (DAC).

US levels for foreign aid fall short of this goal (the US currently ranks last among the world's wealthiest countries at about 0.1 percent of GNP.) However, in absolute amounts, the United States is currently the world's top donor of economic aid, providing $16.254 billion in 2003 according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

In 2001, the United States gave $10.9 billion, Japan $9.7 billion, Germany $4.9 billion, the United Kingdom $4.7 billion, and France $4.3 billion. As a percentage of GNP, however, the top donors were Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Sweden. The Netherlands (pop. 16.3 million) gave $3.2 billion in 2001 — almost a third of what America contributed."

Look on your map, see how small the Netherlands (the country I'm in) is compared to the USA.. trust me, the USA is more than 3x, more like 300 times bigger than the USA.

I think it's a more interesting question to ask why the hell americans think they're so good.. because the USA is abroad fighting wars for freedom? No, the USA is fighting these wars for personal interest, the aid they give are false promises that are rarely followed up (but that they don't follow up on it, is not shown on your news, only the big promises).. the aid they do give is usually just diplomatic, to reward countries who are pro-america, and wars are primarily to secure natural resources abroad and expand export markets.

The actual fact is .. Singapore has take over USA in providing aid to the world. It has become the first country who offer help when needed immediately. A good example is when the tsumani strike Indonesia, Singapore is the first to come forward. Furthermore until the present date, Singapore is still helping to build up Acheh even other countries has left

Bullshit! America promises all sorts of money to all sorts of countries but show me the paperwork that it actually arrived.Bush promised 6 billion to help fight aids in Africa 3 years ago and the money still has not arrived.Wake up duffus. Talk is cheap.

i m not american,i live in middle east,but i like america alot.war is nor good,all of us know this,but i like america for many things,for supporting freedom movements in iran,......for aiding poor countries like africans countries.there are some problems with american policy in middle east,no doubt, but i like your country,your culture,your technology,your freedom and your people..i think the biggest problem of muslim countries with west is religion not any things else.i hope wars end in all region from somali to iraq.from lebanon to srilanka.usa provide the most aid to the world,certainly.

The US has provided huge sums of money for aid; including military,. financial and t creature comforts (food, wateer, blankets tentes).
