iTunes will recognize the different iPods, but if you want them to have different songs instead of just updating the same library to both, you'll have to change the settings so that instead of taking their songs off "Library" each time, they take them off a playlist (I created for each iPod.) Disable the automatic settings, put the songs you want on the matching playlist, and then update each iPod with the new tunes. iTunes should be able to recognize all your different iPods, but you can't switch them between computers. If it's somebody else's iPod it will clear their music and replace it with yours.

For Windows XP
Yes, you can use two different iPods and the easiest way to do this, is either keep them updated with the same library or if you want different songs on each one, create two user accounts and keep the libraries different.

no. each itunes and ipod are sync'd together. kind of like a key and lock. if you try using someone elses itunes, you will not be able to download the songs from their library into yours. you can only use the ipod with your own itunes.
