Could u mean ouiji board? If so, that is a board game where two people place their hands on an object within, and asks a question. The object moves from letter to letter spelling out the answer to your question.

Although it was designed as a game at least a century ago, it started spelling out some answers that frightened people about ghosts and the afterlife, and soon it was banned in many places because people were commiting suicide in their fear.

It is again on the market but not with the same popularity.
