Honda made a 250cc 6 cylinder grand prix bike in the 60's, this is probably the one you're thinking of. Pretty tiny pistons, and ultra high rpm for the day. They won every class of grand prix at the time, and there were many classes, 50, 100, 250, 350, and 500cc.

For 50cc, I remember a twin. I recall they had a tiny 3 cylinder 50 but it was made but never raced, but still some tiny pistons either way. The 50 twin redlined at 21,500rpm and the triple redlined at 25,000! They also had a 125cc 5 cylinder racing bike too.

There's a guy reproducing the Honda 6 today, with Honda's blessing. An amazing acomplishment, and here's an article on it:

Honda built a 50cc twin, Luigi Taveri ,Ralph Bryans and others rode them in the 65/66 Gp season.I think the bike you describe is a 250 Honda 6 first ridden by Jim Redman in the 1965 Japanese gp.These were campaigned also in 1966 and 67 initially by Mike Hailwood and Stuart Graham, 66 then in 67 by Ralh Bryans and Mike Hailwood. Also in 67 Honda raced an overbored version the 297, 6 ridden by the same rider pairing. They did indeed build a 125, 5 cylinder and a 500cc ,4 but never a 500 ,6 .The honour for that goes to MV Agusta who built one in 1958 .George Beale has built several exact replica,s of the Honda 6 the last one completed recently.

Back in the 60's, Suzuki made a 6 cylinder 125 GP bike, but that's the only manufacturer, who was on hard drugs, I think. I've looked from one end, to the other, in my Honda history book, and can't find one. There're plenty of 50cc's in there, but all are a single cylinder. If they had, then each pot, would have had a displacement of 8.3 cc's. The bore, and stroke, would have been less than a model aircraft engine.( about 10 X 8 mm). If you DO find any info, on the contrary, let us know.

I keep asking a similar question. I'm not sure about the 60's, but I saw a straight 6 (6 cylinders going from front to rear) in a motorcycle museum. I think it was a Honda.

Luigi Taveri rode a Honda 125, 5 cylinder machine in the 60's. A slight change in barometric pressure would ruin it's tuning. It had an 8 speed transmission & max revs. of 21,500 r.p.m. It absolutely shrieked around circuits. This was 1965.

They made a CBX which was 6-cylinder, but it wasn't 50cc, it was a full liter-bike I believe...
