I reckon on winning 14M GBP, I've already started dipping into my overdraft on the strength of this forthcoming win..should I keep a few million 'liquid' for everyday spending, or pretty much invest nearly the lot?

Spend, Spend, Spend. I would spend the whole 14M right away, before they tell you that you didn't win. That way you will have 14M worth of stuff.

It depends on where yo live, but you should be able to do okay with $500K. You'll want to finance anyway. Home interest is the country's best personal tax write off.
