Eleanor of Aquitaine has got to be one of the most fascinating people that ever lived. She was Duchess of Aquitaine in her own right and then she married the King of France who she joined on the crusades (although she insisted on bring all her ladies and got a lot of people killed). Her and King Louis eventually divorced on good terms and she married the Henry of England and produced many children including Richard the Lion Hearted and King John. When she protested Henry's blatant affairs he had her locked in a tower. When he died she chased her son Richard around Europe with his neglected bride. When he died she tried to influence John to smarten up but obviously to no avail. She may not have been perfect but she lived a life so rare for a women at such a time. She was a great patron of the arts and the Queen of not one but two great countries. Wow.

Of course my 2nd choice would be Elizabeth I. She took a bankrupt country at the brink of civil war and brought it to what is known as the Golden Age of England. Tough Chic not to mention that historians believe she would have been a certified guineous.

And I have to say I would also love to have met Lady Jane Grey who was Queen of England for 9 days. I just would like to have to know what kind of person she was to be such a strong will young woman at her age.

Oh sorry just remembered the Alexandra of Denmark. She was very beautiful and kind. She became a close friend of John Merrick, the Elephant Man.
