get her a gift card to the her fave store...a gift card to Blockbuster is always good. u can't go wrong with a few movie rentals, right? maybe a gift card to Barnes & Noble, or to Borders...she can pick out some CD's, or a good book or magazines.
u can get her something from Bath & Body Works...i LOVE that store. cucumber melon and Cherry Blossom are really nice scents...there are many other nice scents too, but those are my fave.

If she is into fashion I sugest a desighner bag. Not to expensive tho. Not like she's you girl friend. Maybe a coach or a Dooney and Burke because im positive a chanel or prada for ya sister would be a little x-tream. and breaking your bank. You cant go wrong with a bag. But then again you know whats she is into.

depends on the age...if you are referring to a child...go to http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255956 and you can search by age and if you are not wanting to order online..you can at least get an idea what you may want to get her from looking at the age groups...
and if you are buying for a pre-teen and up...go to the mall, go to one of the nicer stores like Blek, Dillard's, JC Penny's..something along those lines and buy either jewelry or a gift set that has perfume and stuff...most girls/women love jewelry and smelly stuff...and if your not sure what type smelly stuff you could always ask what they sell the most....the women behind those counters can help! There are plenty gift sets in those type of stores for anything under $30 bucks!

all depends on the sister. I'd get my sister some horribly bright shirt, because that's what she likes. she'd probably get me a knife, because that's what I like.
get something that says you know her pretty well, you know her likes and dislikes, and you care about her being happy. making it something unusual or unexpected is extra good.
