Don't confuse a pen pal for a relationship. You shouldn't be too convinced of anything until you meet him in person.
You seem to be setting yourself up for heart break when there are probably thousands of single men much closer to you.
For me personally, I would never have an online relationship that long without meeting the person.

a little comment though, sometimes we get blinded by our emotions and our ability to think clearly is affected so much. They always say that in making decisions, you have to be 101% sure. if by chance you are 99.99% sure, forget it because a mere 0.01% doubt create a big impact later on.
To know a person, you have to be with this person not through internet or letters or text or phone call but in person.
but then you are the maker of your life. whatever you think is good for you is good for you. but remember, what is good for you in your point of view may be different in others.

yes you can fall in love over the Internet. i met my wife on line and we are very happy. the age difference might be an issue over time but age is just a number the important thing is to be true to each other and yourselves
