Gee wiz! You don't have to be that old! Perry Mason reruns came on at lunch time when I lived in Dallas. I watched them with my 3-year-old son while we were having our noontime meal. My son morphed into Paul Drake, the detective. He started carrying an old briefcase and wearing his dress suit (tie and all). Oh, and he wore the dark sunglasses. When we went grocery shopping he was always in character; slinking around, watching for suspects around every corner. The grocery manager said to me once: I see you brought your bodyguard with you today. :-)
My son had so much fun in his make-believe world that I didn't want to stifle his imagination. Sometimes he was a soldier marching up and down the front sidewalk; sometimes he was Superman. Paul Drake was my favorite alter ego to go shopping with, however. I felt so safe!

Old Iron Side? Oh Yeah! Guess I'm your Mom's age. We didn't have reality shows back then. And no cable either. 3 channels if we put tin foil on the antenna! So you watched what ever came in.

I still think he had a thing for Della Street - I know she had a crush on him, but I'm pretty sure they'd meet in the coffee room and smooch!!!
