sammi, in a nice english answer which not many people here can write in, cookies are simply the personal information, thats remembered by the computer, when you fill things in on the internet.
An example is on ebay. I type in my username, but instead of typin it all out, the computer brings it up automatically. Its rememberd it. :)

A cookie is a short piece of data, not code, which is sent
from a web server to a web browser when that browser visits the server's site. The cookie is stored on the user's machine, but it is not an executable program and cannot do anything to your machine. Whenever a web browser requests a file from the web server that sent it a cookie, the browser sends a copy of that cookie back to the server along with the request. Thus a server sends you a cookie and you send it back whenever
you request another file from the same server. In this way, the server knows you have visited before and can coordinate your access to different pages on its web site. For example, an Internet shopping site uses a cookie to keep track of which shopping basket belongs to you. A server cannot find out your name or e-mail address, or anything about your computer using cookies.

You can delete all cookies. By doing so, you may turn some of your favorite web pages temporarily less "intelligent" (they may ask questions that you have already answered before) but nothing serious will happen.
Cookies are information stored on your computer, accessible for web pages. For example, if you have once typed in a your username when entering some web page, the cookie may remember your username so that you don't have to enter it against next time.

A computer cookie is a small text file which contains a unique ID tag, placed on your computer by a website. The website saves a complimentary file with a matching ID tag. In this file various information can be stored, from pages visited on the site, to information voluntarily given to the site. When you revisit the site days or weeks later, the site can recognize you by matching the cookie on your computer with the counterpart in its database.
They can be deleted but you might find you have to reenter data when you revisit sites

For example, the check box which says ; remember my ID & pass on this machine, Is assigned into a cookie,
deleting cookies won't make any thing dangerous, But you will lose your site configs, and have got to start it over!
If there's a crash becuz of bad cookie on a site, This function is required.

Cookies are just temporary information that has been stored on your computer through the internet. There is no harm in deleting cookies and in fact it is good to delete them. If you are running internet explorer you need to open it, go to tools, internet options, click delete cookies and then ok. Good Luck!

Cookies are files that can view what you use the Internet for and send it back to the cookies' creator.
To clear cookies, I require your browser information.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox 1.5, go to Tools > Clear Private Data > Cookies > OK.
If you are using another browser, please e-mail me at Neil.325@GMAIL.com
Some cookies are useful. For example, you do not want to delete cookies by Google or Yahoo! However, you do want to delete cookies from advertising and such. Some browsers have a feature to block certain types of cookies.

they're like shortcuts that get saved to your computer so it's faster to go back to the same web page later. However, they add up and many are adware or spyware which track your internet use, or cause pop-ups to apopear when you don't want them to. try installing some freeware: AdAware, SpyBot S & D and RegSrub. They are all free and will help control those nasty cookies.

Cookies are data sent by a server to a browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) and then sent back by the browser each time you access that server (or website).
Cookies are used for authenticating, tracking, and maintaining specific information about users, such as site preferences and the contents of their electronic shopping carts.
