I agree with Gardenfoot. I have (unfortunately) been around enough alcoholics to know that what is truly in their hearts, but perhaps socially unacceptable, comes boiling to the surface when they are drunk. Alcohol is like sodium pentathol for most people. Remember, it takes away inhibitions. Gibson was uninhibited when he was drunk and let those officers know how he really felt deep down inside. He's despicable and I hope all the Jews in Hollywood refuse to ever work with an anti-Semite like him again.
However, Jews who survived the Holocaust often survived with forgiveness in their hearts. I am amazed at the grace of people who have lived through the most horrible terror I know on this planet.
Mel Gibson's father has come right out saying that the Holocaust didn't happen. What an idiot! Why would Steven Spielberg start the Shoah foundation, where something close to 50,000 first hand testimonials of Jews who survived the Holocaust are documented. If the Holocaust never happened, who took the pictures of Jews in the labor/death camps? Those pictures show people with shorn heads, warehouses of their hair still exists, the ovens where the people were cremated and the "showers" where they were gassed still exist today. There are numerous books and films about the horrors that people endured or died by. There is too much solid evidence and personal testimony, from Nazi's too, to prove that the Holocaust happened.
Any fool who indicates a hatred for Jews (or any other people) needs to get education of what those people have gone through.
I don't believe Gibson is truly sorry. If he believes that his wife is going to hell because she doesn't believe in God the same way he does. There's some kind of glitch in his thinking. That woman is the mother of his what, seven children? Gibson needs to wake up and enter 2006. The world has moved forward and even the Catholic church has mellowed a bit.
Peace.

Mel Gibson does not hate Jews, just because he made the movie "Passion of Christ"! He told that movie the way the bible told it. The bible tells us that Jesus was a Jew and his fellow Jews rejected him. So, that shows us that Mel Gibson just followed what the bible said. Mel Gibson does not hate Jews!

Ok look at the facts, he was raised by a man who said the Holocaust was exaggerated (which is f***ing ridicules) that only 100,000 thousand Jews died and it wasn't genocide and war crimes it was the normal famine of war! U can't not like the Jews if u believe they made the Holocaust up, u obviously would think they were liars! And ppl don't get drunk and start spewing anti-Semitic views unless there is some truth in their belief. Do u hate black ppl? If not would u at anytime ever be drunk enough to start insulting black ppl? No of course u wouldn't, just like if u weren't sexist u wouldn't go around saying sexist things, those thoughts just wouldn't enter ur mind unless u believed them on some level!

I believe if he wasen't drunk he would not have said that. I'm not saying that drinking is a good excuse, but it does alter a persons way of thinking. It was wrong of him to say that and I believe he's said he was sorry. I'm not against Jews myself. Jesus was a Jew and so is my step-dad.

He harbors strong anti-semitic feelings, as evidenced by his little tirade on the PCH.

Yup, alcohol lowers your inhibitions. So you will make comments that you believe are true, but you know other people don't agree with.

He says he doesn't, but why would he say it while he is drunk? The truth comes out when people are angry, either drunk or sober.
