This past weekend i went on a trip with my friend and her dad. A few times he put his arm around me. He sometimes said"ur the second daughter i never had" one time before bed me even kissed me on the cheek .And later that weekend he would grab my arm and go "are you cold?" Is this just me being paranoid or is this really inappropriate.

If you're uncomfortable with it, then it's at least slightly inappropriate.

And, it may genuinely be innocent. We have a "third daughter" -- our oldest daughter's long-time best friend spends a lot of time here, comes over just to hang out with us, watch "House" and raid the fridge. (My wife and I make a point of shopping with her in mind...)

I give her hugs and kisses on the cheek when such behavior is called for (when they graduated high school, for example) but she really IS like one of the family, and has been for nearly ten years. An occasional big hug and a kiss on the cheek are completely appropriate for the relationship this girl has with me and with my wife.

But she's not you, and your friend's dad isn't me. And the takeaway is that if YOU were uncomfortable, then it was at least a little inappropriate, even if it was innocent. I wouldn't call the cops and have your friend's dad hauled off to prison, but you should use caution around him in the future. It may be possible that he's just from a very affectionate family. And it may be something less innocent.

Here's hoping you find out, in ten years, that he's just a great guy who hugs everybody. And in the meanwhile... take care of yourself.

It depends on how ong you've known this Dad. Did he act the same way with his daughter? If so then this is just his way of acting. However if it goes any farther than this I'd tell him to stop, or avoid ur friends dad.

It really does not seem like he was being out of line he seemed to just be treating you as he would a daughter,If you felt uncomfortable with it you should have said something.

If her treats his daughter the same way then maybe you got nothing to fear..and at the same time, if his touching you makes you uncomfortable, ask him to stop or talk to your friend and let her know that your uncomfortable about it.

I think you are taking the proper precautions. But he could be telling the truth the only thing I can do is tell you to keep your eyes open and talk to your best friend.

Inappropriate. He is trying to be fresh. Cheap thrills. Distance yourself from him.
