means unfortunately they dont feel the need. There way of beating around the bush and saying "no" in so many words.

The word but the way you used it means that there are other complications that prevents a person from loving or helping someone.

Hi, it means things like: Theres a catch, you own me, BUT is a word that is used to state the above things nicer...you know what i mean...Never feel you have to do anything unless you want to...Let them know that they can say no, cause you don't want to own or do anything for helping you out....

but means that sombody cant do somthing they have to do somthing else! if they say i love you but then they are most likley going to breakup with you.
