Black ghost knife for sure. They are a lot more work and harder to keep, but much cooler.
Parrots have a fixed deformity due to the hybridization. Some of them can't even close their mouths due to the deformity of the head.
Right on, Ginger.

I like ghost knifes better than parrot cichlids, if I had to choose. Parrots are a forced hybrid and should not be sold. They do seem to have interesting personality though....I'll admit that.

BGK's, as others have reported, grows as much as be a brilliant beastie so isn't perfect for a 20 gallon. there are a number of different oddballs that stay smaller so which you could evaluate, in basic terms bare in techniques a brilliant sort of them are not generic community fish, could be gentle to water circumstances, be costly to be purchase, hard to discover, or have specific feeding standards. you think approximately an African Butterfly fish, in basic terms bare in techniques they strengthen to 3", like to leap, thoroughly genuine residing, and are a danger to any fish smaller than them. Or Khuli Loaches, strengthen to 5" long yet very skinny, desire to be in communities, and characteristic a sandy substrate to burrow and snuffle in. they're non violent community fish. there are a number of Killifish species you ought to evaluate, and many creditors and breeders of them so i'm specific theres loads of websites dedicated to them. a number of those have a minimum tank length of 20 gallons. you're transforming into a species tank dedicated to Neolamprologus shelldweller cichlids. you like hard water for those adult males, and many empty shells and a sandy substrate is favorite. There are some categories, all extremely small. even inspite of the incontrovertible fact that they don't possibly look strange, there is a few thing attractive approximately staring at them rearrange and take care of their useful shells!

I like the knife fish because of its odd look. But you must take into consideration the knife fish isn't aggressive and swims slowly so it can't be in a tank with aggressive fish.
