Why do Japanese girls think they are ugly compared to Caucasians, when actually most foreigners envy them?

When i talk to japanese people they say something about hollywood movie stars and how beautiful they are, then i say "mmmm... not really", because many times some caucasian people are not my taste. Ive seen it time and time again, japanese people seem to think everyone loves white people or caucasian people, and that they are garbage. they are totally wrong! they are so pretty, .....how in the world did they get the idea that they are ugly and caucasians are the best thing ever? Sometimes they tell me, "look.. that american women, i like her.. she has big eyes, s o beautiful".....uhhh, yes she is beutiful but you are too!! well anyone care to share thoughts?

I don't know if very many Japanese women feel they are ugly, but I can tell you that Japan is an Asian nation with some very westernized views.

Japanese like Americans and many of them want to be like us. Strangely, many Americans would like to be more like Japanese.

Many women I know don't consider themselves to be attractive, and that is not defined by any nationality or racial group. Many Asians don't like the fact they almost all have black or very dark hair and consider their features less attractive than Caucasians, who come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes.

Nature has given all of us, men and women, the resources we need. We are all attractive to someone. We can do great things for each other by recognizing that wherever we see it.

I grew up thinking I was unattractive and was a little shocked when I found out there were women who didn't agree. I think we tend to look in the mirror and see our big ears, bulbous nose, messy hair and pimples and ignore the fact that others either don''t see them or don't consider them unattractive.

American women include a lot of very fine-looking females of all racial groups. And my current favorite actress is Chinese knockout Zhiyi Zhang.

At least 80% of a Hollywood Stars "beauty" is attributable to camera effects and lots of makeup and a thousand dollar per pop hair stylist and clothing. I once remember an article about Julia Roberts where she went to a department store in her sweatpants looking like her true self - and they would not service her to her satisfaction because they did not believe she was Julia Roberts. It's because Hollywood is based on where they think our culture wants to go and not on reality. Hollywood and the music industry in the United States and their marketing all over the world has had a tremendous impact on the entire world and that is a shame. Think of all of the big time movie stars these Japanese women are likely to hear and see. Can you think of one beautiful movie star or singer that is Japanese? Mulan? Come on - she's a cartoon! I'm taking the big stars over the past century okay - they've all heard of Madonna and Britney and geez... and seen men drooling over these women in videos and concerts. They've heard of Marilyn Monroe and the list could go on. But, most of them are bleach blonde bimbos without an ounce of true inner beauty or true outer beauty for that matter. I think American women have built this awful image of what beauty is. The truth is that if you take off all of the makeup, false hairdoos, false boobs, false everything else our sicko role models have - and line them up side by side with an average Japanese woman - you'll see clearly that the Japanese woman would win a beauty contest hands down! Okay, and I'm an average American woman saying this. They just need a dose of reality by coming over here and seeing what most of us look like day to day! The fact is - alot of people in our own country are totally brainwashed by the way we market beauty and women and they too have a totally warped view of what beauty is. It's like having someone who is not as pretty as someone else so they do everything they can to to blow the other person away by the makeup and camera effects. It's like we're trying to prove that we are better than other women somehow when we're not generally as beautiful at all. Most American women are mutts lacking the distinctive features and unique traits Japanese women have that most American women will never enjoy.

If only everyone would learn to live in their own skin! God made different people, each one unique in their own way. He did not make all the flowers roses. He made lilies, pansies, and a lot of different colors of flowers. Some smell good, some don't have a fragrance. But they are beautiful anyway. American women are beautiful, but so are Japanese, Black American women, chinese women, and all the peoples on earth. America has set a standard for beauty that is unattainable for most people. But that is not God's standard. He looks at the heart always. We americans would do well to do the same.

I'm Japanese and it's true what you are trying to say. They look up to white people 'cause they think that U.S. is the best country in the world. Not all Japanese people think that, some people envy and some also like them. it depends on what you think of them.

I am not Japanese. I am Chinese. But I have that feeling all the same. Caucasian girls are a lot prettier. They are usually taller, have big eyes and high nasal bridges. They generally have a lot more legs and bigger bosoms too.

I am of average height. But beside a Caucasian girl, I am short. With short stubby legs. And tiny breasts. Small eyes. Black hair. Boring.

That is how I feel.

The answer is quite simple people want what the can't have. The bigger nose the blonde hair. I've lived in japan for two years and I know exactly what you are talking about. Japanese culture is very homogenous and to stick out is hard.

i think asian people in general thinks they are inferior than caucasians because of all these big movies and publicity that's going on in media. Even toys like dolls they make more white blond dolls than asia features except for collectibles different nationalities.
But times are changing now...real soon asians will start(if not already) appreciating themselves and will not feel inferior.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally, I don't care for the Asian look. In fact, I tend not to like most "ethnic" looking girls. I like white girls. Think of it this way....these Japanese girls want to look like white girls. A lot of white guys prefer ethnic girls. A lot of ethnic guys prefer white girls. Do you see the pattern here? The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence - i.e. you want what you can't/don't have. So, tell your Japanese friend to go find a white guy...he will likely love her look.

Although I think some japanese women are beautiful, I don't agree that foreigners envy them. The thing is that the international beauty standards have been formed by European top models.

I believe it goes back to the media.. showing what They think is beautiful and acceptable... Like those skinny people on the magazines... My Son seems to think they are pretty cause they are so skinny... I myself and husband are trying to tell him it is unhealthy and not pretty to see a Pearson's bones... And Yea I to believe that Japanese women are beautiful I love the way their hair is healthy looking and their skin seems so smooth and unblemished I like their eyes also because when they smile you see it with their eyes NOT when an American smiles you see their deceit in their eyes They don't truly have a smile on their face it is always fake..
