This might be charley horse or a really bad cramp. I get these something terrible in my legs and feet in the second and third trimesters, but always at night. If you can find a way to stretch against it try that. Or apply alternate heat and cold until the muscle relaxes. Ask your doctor or midwife for some tips on avoiding cramps. I have heard that keeping hydrated, stretching muscles periodically and also not sitting or standing for too long can cut down on them. But some pregnant women will still get them occasionally even with these techniques.
If this is a pain or knot that persists throughout the day, then definitely get it checked out immediately by a doctor or nurse. It could be some kind of clot or vein problem, especially if you had no injury or trauma to that area that you can recall.

It could be related to pregnancy, As your baby grows it can put pressure on nerves that could cause pain or tingling in your lower extremities. Try resting in different positions to see if that resolves it, when in doubt, ask your doctor!!
