It depends upon if she's in a dorm or living off campus. Give her rolls of quarters for laundry and vending machines, snack foods that don't require cooking or refrigeration or things she can cook in the microwave (if she'll have one), toiletries (makeup, shampoo, deodorant, contact lens solution, pain reliever, etc.), family photos in frames or in an album, school supplies (pens, pencils, highlighters, stapler, tape, paper clips), bulletin board, alarm clock, mp3 player, some kind of schedule/calendar book, address book filled out with addresses, phone number, and e-mail addresses of family members and friends at home, backpack (maybe use to hold all the stuff instead of a box), small plastic storage containers, sturdy draw-string laundry bag, posters or prints to hang on the wall, tote container to carry/store toiletries if in a dorm, stamps, grocery or discount store gift card, long distance phone card to call home.

Suggestions: Callista Rowan Marshall Callista Fae Marshall Isis Rowan Marshall Isis Keandra Marshall Audra Lainey Marshall Acacia Faye Marshall Artina Rowan Marshall Rowan Callista Marshall Rowan Sariya Marshall Levin Freya Marshall Personally, I would go with Callista Rowan or Artina Rowan. I like Callista, Rowan, Artina, Isis & Audra. I'm not a fan of Bretta, Estralita, Lydia, Morpheus, Sashia, Sonika, Stacia or Vivica. The rest I'm sort of on the fence about. Good luck!

Tissues, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, aspirin.
Also some 'snacky' stuff-perishable like chips, crackers, etc. Extra toothbrushes and toothpaste, floss! If she is a tea drinker, maybe some tea bags and small pot she can heat up with water. A coffee/tea mug. Maybe a packet or two of hot chocolate. She won't need it now, but in October she will!
I would include a roll of stamps and some note cards- I know e-mail is the 'thing' but getting a card now and then is nice.
Give her a wall calendar with important dates already written on it. Maybe even a desk calendar, too.
Fuzzy socks- bed socks we call them! A favorite stuffed animal, photos of the family.
I hope this gives you some ideas.

I put in medicines such as cough syrup, cold medicines for both day and night, pepto-bismol tablets, anti - diarrheals, antihistamines, Tylenol, etc. Also make sure to include hydrocortisone cream and a thermometer. Be sure to label each thing as to when to take it. It seems silly - especially for a college age child - but you will be surprised how little they pay attention to that stuff when they are at home. Even then be prepared for the late night call the first time they get sick and mom isn't around to tell them what to do!

What I add was a tool box. I went to the dollar store and added everything she would need. ex.: hammer, screwdrivers, measuring tape, level, black tape, a box of nails and screws, and some band aids!! Hope I was of some help. Ho, yes, I put together a box with light bulbs, cable wires, extension cord, power bar.

Well, no box will hold everything she needs, obviously.
I'd recommend stuff like quarters for the laundry machine, laundry detergent, some snacks, a phone card, and whatever else you think she could use.
Definitely include those things I mentioned, though. I know I'd like to get a box like that now and then. :)

All toiletries are appreciated. Everything from toilet paper, deodorant, everything needed for a long camping trip.
Also a gift card for the Wal-Mart, Target, or discount retailer nearest to campus. This will allow her to get stuff as it comes up and not to bother you with minor issues. Anywhere from $100 to $200 per semester. She can't blow the money outside the store and it's a wonderful safety net.

Her fave food to munch on late night. I always loved the rare times when my mom sent a care package with teddy grahams. If she is in the minority without a cell phone, include a calling card.

paper, pens, pencils, highlighters, folders, antiseptic oinments, over the counter allergy medications if she has allergies, toothpaste and a couple toothbrushes, cough drops and cold medicines (might come in handy to just have it on hand if she gets sick), thermometer, antacids or pepto (for those late night after too much pizza stomach aches), some calling cards, and $20 for emergency uses only.

Why don't you get you get family and friends to write letters to her and put them in the box. Photos are also great items because they have tons of memories in them. Another great idea is to make a video with you and others she may love and put it in the box.
