Ive checked the vacuum on my engine. Its perfect. I would tell you what it was at but Ive been up for almost 30 hrs. I think it was around 18. That would mean that its a good engine?

I can fix it. I just wanted another opinion. It makes me feel more confidant about my idea of what is wrong.

If I remember correctly 18-20 is normal vacuum. If the guage needle pulsates, it could possibly indicate a leaking intake valve.
That would only be a start though...
I would also run a compression check on each of the cylinders, they should all be close to the same psi.

18 about where a stock engine should run at idle. It shouldn't pulse though.

no, that would tell you you have a vacuum of 18 ...RIGHT??? YOU CAN GUESS AND SAY "IT'S A GOOD ENGINE" BUT THE VACUUM TEST DOESN'T MEAN THAT.
