I have a girlfriend that snores - she tells me it makes her husband miserable, he can barely sleep etc. She's overweight, but besides losing weight (duh!), what else works? Also, she's used those "Breatheright" snore strips but they don't really seem to work... No, she hasn't had a sleep study; based on her doctor etc she didn't really need it.

Sleeping on side can help reduce snoring.

To achieve you can tie "a tennis ball in a sock" to the back, this will automatically prevent the person to sleep in their back and thus will reduce snoring.

Everyone in my family is the same way it is really bad!! One of my brothers had to use a CPAP machine for a while because of his sleep apnea, but we finally found the answer to stop snoring and it is awesome!! I snore too, tell her avoid alcohol before bed, because it tends to relax your throat mussles and dont use a large pillow because it tends to bend your head forward closing off your airway, try using a roled up bath towel under the neck instead of a regular pillow, and yes looseing weight can help but often you must loose alot of weight before the fat deposits in the neck and throat will be effected. if all else fails they have many surgical options now days
