I'd love my husband even more. He'd chosen to place me (his wife) over his children.
We can always have more children. He can't always get another wife.

Death in childbirth is a possibility. Recently my daughter's waters broke at 25 weeks. She was taken into hospital where they saved both her and the baby's lives. She eventually gave birth at 30 weeks but her daughter, Taylor Jade, died just 4 hours old. My daughter, Rebecca, was told that there was chance of death for either or both of them and they said if it came to a choice they would always save the mother in favour of the baby. Sad but it's a decision they make for you so that telling the doctor your preference is not an issue. I can't think of a situation where the husband would tell the doctor to let his wife die rather than the baby.

ok..here's a story for yah.
I was pregnant in 2002 with a baby boy. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks before the baby was born. I had to have an emergency c-section because my heart rate and the baby's heart rate were both dropping terribly. the doctor told my husband who id only been married to a year and half then that, they could lose both of us, My husband told them if there was any way they could save me to do it. My Baby was born and 9 weeks earlier and was in the hospital for almost a month and half, I was in the hospital the same amount of time almost. Our baby is now 3 years old and WIDE OPEN all the time..
It makes our relationship so much better knowing that he would of picked me and now im pregnant again. YAY!

I would, of course be heartbroken. I don't know excactly how I'd feel, but imainge for a mintue, it was the other way around, and you had to either lose your newborn or husband and you only had a second to decide. It's just scary.
And yes, it's possible, a girl my age died about a month before I gave birth to my daughter in the very hospital I gave birth at. It's very unlikely now, though, so I wouldn't get too worried about it.

Then your husband really does love you. It would be soo hard to take care of an infant on your own especially as a father, with no mother around. Babies tend to need their mothers especially in this crutial time of their life. This is a tough situtation if it came down to it, but I hope my husband would do the same. You can pull through your pain and hurt and grow from it, yes you will always want that little child that you lost but yoru life was spared.

A lot of people would feel that way. I know my husband does. You spend your life with someone and try to raise a family with them. It's would be hard to let someone you care so deeply for just go when it could have been prevented. With today's technology though, I don't think it happens very often. Good luck!

I think that's the right choice. He doesn't even really know the baby yet. It would be a sad situation if someone really did have to make that decision, but I think chosing the wife is the best thing.

Yes, it's possible. My daughter & I both almost died getting her here. My husband (ex, now) was only concerned about himself at the time and how having a baby around was going to effect how much attention HE was getting. Very immature.

Thats sad to think about but a good idea. You can't replace the person you love, but you can always try for another baby.

It just shows how much he loves you. 'cos unlike mothers who start loving the child before he is born, fathers start developing an affection for the kid only after he is born. So it's understandable for the husband to say this to the doctor.
