I remember that's what Bill Gates said. It is true that old technologies are substituted by new ones as the typewriter was abandoned and cassettes are almost forgotten, but I believe (or I wish) this will not be so with books.
Certainly younger people would rather search in the Internet than go to a library, but you still get shallow information from it, while a student at a university level must consider information deep enough to require a book.
Also, books are collectible items, much more fun than files.

Well now you can read books online and you don't have to buy them so that's not too bad. However, I believe the statement is trying to reflect that all classic books will become obsolete. They had the same fear when movies started to make it big, saying that kids would watch the movie instead of reading the book. My teachers still made me read Hamlet etc... So if parents maintain a semblance of responsibility and teachers decide that it is important to teach children we will be o.k. however, I do not see that happening. Teachers and parents are getting lazier and children are following suit.

i ges computer will soon replase the books.Bcause when ever we r given homeworh or project work we refer to the internet instead of refering to our book .And there are many peopal who cannot buy books .Because of their finanial condition .but they can refer to the internet and read the same book in free of cost or in little amount of money which they can even afford .
