RUMOUR #1
Before game one of this year's Stanley Cup finals, Lauren Pronger found herself without a ticket to one of the biggest games of her husband's life. Not wanting to break her husband's concentration by bothering him with a ticket request, she burst into tears on the way out of the Oilers practice facility. Her breakdown was noticed by Oilers backup goaltender Ty Conklin, who tried to cheer her up by saying he had always liked the SUV she drove. Lauren told Ty the whole story and they came up with a plan. Lauren would dress up in Conklin's helmet and pads, as there was practically no chance he would play that night with starting goaltender Dwayne Roloson en route to an MVP performance. She would watch the game undetected from the bench, and in exchange, would give him her SUV. After agreeing to the deal, Lauren threw her car keys to Conklin, who mishandled and dropped them.

All went as planned until late in the final period, when the unthinkable happened. Roloson suffered a series-ending knee injury in a collision, and was replaced by Lauren Pronger in Conklin's uniform. With 32 seconds to go in regulation, Lauren misplayed the puck, and Rod Brind'Amour easily jammed it in for the win. Embarrassed by not only the fact that she had cost her husband and the Oilers the game, but also that anyone as ugly as Brind'Amour had ever actually scored with her, Lauren demanded her husband be traded.

As a postscript, Ty Conklin was so embarrassed that he asked to go somewhere where "he would never be seen again." He settled for the Columbus Blue Jackets

Pronger left because his wife gave him an ultimatum. Pronger had an afair durring the season with a local sports reporter and got her preanant. His wife is an airess to the Walmart fortune, and realy doenst need the money he makes, so she se told him she was moving back to the states to be closer to her parents and away from the tramp that he had knocked up. The Oilers did a good job of covering up the story. The only reason I know, is beacuse I work in the TV industry and have a VERY reliable source.

Sounds crazy, I know. But it's 100% true.

A player is not going to leave a team that made it to the cup finals unless he is unhappy. Edmonton was not even remotely expected to make it that far so it was a great season for them so obviously he was unhappy. Watch out for Anehiem this year with Pronger.

No, he left because he was unhappy being in Edmonton. He and his wife didn't like it there (although I've never been there, I hear it's a nice city), so they decided to be greedy and demand a trade.

Frankly, I hope he does well, but I think he's your typical average spoiled player who will never make it back to the Stanley Cup Finals

his WIFE didn't like Edmonton and wanted out. she could of just stayed in st-Louis when he was on the road. his wife is also American and didn't want to live in Canada, what i don't understand she married him as a pro, and knew what can happened by being traded and stuff and they signed in Edmonton, I'm not an oilers fan but i don't like what Pronger did and i don't except it at all. HE SIGNED A CONTRACT AND HIS WIFE DOESN'T LIKE CANADA.

From what I've heard Pronger's wife was not very happy in Edmonton and wanted to move.

Family before carreer. Gotta respect that.

It was all about family. Neither he nor his wife were happy in edmonton. Not sure of the reasons for it, but they just didn't like it up there.

No. He left because he wanted to play in a large market. He didn't want to play in Hartford when he was there, either. He was fine in St. Louis because it was a pretty good market with good exposure.

I think it was unhappy with management and coaching. Needed another main player to take some pressure off of him.
