then if you do can some one tell me where the wire hanging down by the gear change goes and do i mix oil in with the prtrol or am i being stupid

You do NOT add oil to the fuel as you have a four stroke engine, the wire hanging down is probably from the side stand inhibitor switch, not all bikes are fitted with this - it cuts the engine if you try to engage a gear with the stand still down.

Lofty is correct. just keep an eye on your tyre pressures and tyre condition, lights, engine oil level and fill her with fuel! Good luck on your travels and keep it rubber side down!
