Yes, you can get your Vietnam visa in Thailand - I assume you'll be in Bangkok at some point? The Vietnamese embassy is on Wireless Road in BKK and is easy to get to on the Skytrain.

Make sure you leave at least a couple of days for the visa to be issued - they don't give it to you on the spot. You have to leave your passport with them and come back 2 days later (it might be more or less time - I can't remember). The visa is valid for 30 days, costs around $50 US and takes up a whole page in your passport so make sure you have space.

Get your visa at the embassy in Thailand. You will get riped off if you get it through a travel agent in the US. My travel agent tried to tell me that I would not be able to get the visa once I was there but she was wrong. I got mine at an embassy in China. The workers in there were very friendly and gave me some advice about traveling in Vietnam, and some good places to go.

yes, and you can get a longer visa from a forgien country ... i dont know why but you can only get 1 month in the usa but up to 6 months from thailand or cambodia?!??! you can also get one in about 20 min right in the sai gon airport [1 month only]
