like oneperson asked to guess how old they are and it got over 50 answers and then the serious answers that really need help don't get any answers or some but not a lot.

It's just a chance to get easy points. But it is frustrating to ask a serious question and get very few responses. I asked a question about my computer going into sleep mode and got less than 10 responses. Now if I had rephrased the question to something like why does my computer go into sleep mode after eating cookies and milk, I would have probably gotten 30 or 40 responses. lol

Because it is easier to answer a no-brainer question than it is to have to actually think about something and then have to form proper cohesive answers.
By the way - I don't particularly care about the points as they don't really mean anything other than to tell the rest of us how much time someone spends on Yahoo Answers.

Because we are bored, stupid Americans overall...and we drink too much (or is that just me). And we do not want to think seriously about something in depth but rather give OPINIONS to brainless fodder or just have a go when we are drunk (is that just me again). If all of us who spend endless amounts of time on Y Answers put our brains to use we would probably cure all diseases, stop aging, build a time machine, cure hangovers, and GET DRUNK (might just be me again)

it appears that most ppl are here just for fun and don't want to have to do too much research or think too deeply to answer questions.

cause its not all about seriousness... you can have a lil bit of fun on here also. besides people choose to waste time answering silly questions.... leave em to it lol

Because they are fun and quick to answer.
But some of them do repeat themselves far to often...How old are you...What's your favorite color/number etc....
