Anal sex is a slightly higher risk sexual activity than normal penis-vagina intercourse when it comes to spread of sexually transmitted diseases. This is because the anal mucosa is not designed for such heavily abrasive stuff and is more likely to develop tears or abrasion injuries. This is how diseases can be transmitted more easily. Always use a condom.

The vagina is lined with a tougher material - stratified squamous epithelium for the cognoscenti - and has built in lubrication in anticipation of -ahem- sustaining abrasion exposure. It is less likely to tear or be injured and has a slightly lower risk for the spread of STD's. Nevertheless, a condom is a good preventative strategy.

Let me see... ummm constipation, possibly...

stinky penis?

With respect to colonic rupture, sufficient force can also rupture the vagina (almost always associated with introduction of a foreign body (read "sex toy" or perhaps in assault). I've never actually heard of anal sex causing ruptured colon, but let me go check. Maybe I haven't read widely enough.

Well... there ya go!

Rare but life threatening complication, usually from infection or insertion of various objects into the rectum.

Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) - from Chlamydia trachomatis - complications: rupture of the colon

There are risks with every type of sexual intercourse. First, and most important is the risk of spreading STD's. The anal canal is made of thinner tissues than the vagina, and there are more blood vessels close to that area. It increases the risk of an STD getting into your blood system. Secondly, you risk the chance of stretching the external anal sphincter which helps you "hold it"...But, another important thing to realize is that you can still get pregnant from anal sex. If even one drop of semen gets in your vagina, you could get pregnant. Be careful, use protection, and keep asking these questions, especially to your doctor. Good luck.

Sex, whether oral, anal or vaginal carries risks with it.

Anal sex can cause the anus to tear, which can cause problems in its own. It is also alot dirtier than regular sex and, if you have anal sex, you MUST NOT have vaginal sex without cleaning the penis very good. There are many health risks associated with it.

You definately risk losing muscle tone of the anal sphincter so you need to exercise it. You could also get a perferated colon if you aren't careful. And the multitudes of bacteria in that region can cause infections to you and your partner.... urinary tract infections, hepitits...etc.

Please don't listen to your friend.

You can still contract HIV/AIDS through anal sex.

Always use condoms.
