Both Norton and McAfee antivirus eat into your system resources. If you have XP sp2 you dont need a third party firewall.
So go for a lightweight antivirus like Trend Micro or F-Secure or Dr. Solmon's. The virus updates are pretty efficient for all Anti Virus clients.

Hi, Mcafee is better in removing the virus. you can also try Norton, which is also very nice.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus, becasue the virus can only run on IE.

firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spywareware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Go here and click Comparatives on the right, then the latest "On-demand comparative" and "Retrospective/ProActive Test" for an independent analysis of virus detection rates of various A-Vs

Everyone else that has answered so far just seems to be touting the A-V that they happen to use with no facts to back it up.
