You are in the bad situation, and a bird releaves itself on your head. It just got worse. Then the heat causes the phospho-nitrates in the bird droppings to spontaneously combust and it burns off all your hair. It just got worse again. While trying to put out your burning head, you trip and fall face first into some mud. Its even worse than before. It wasn't mud (and you fell with your mouth open). Still worse.

I can do this all day, so see, it could be worse.

They're trying to make you feel better. Say you're stuck in an Italian restaurant that's being held up by robbers. Well someone might say, "This could be worse..." because those robbers could have actual guns instead of fake water pistols. Or instead of being held up by robbers with water pistols in an Italian restuarant, you could be about to be fed to sharks as a snack. That would be worse. But really, "It could be worse," is a stupid phrase.

It is actually suppose to make "steve" feel better, because things could actually be a lot worse. I get so sick of people complaining about stupid things, when we have got it so good. It could be a lot worse... Think about homeless people and their worries... are your worries ANYTHING compared to theirs??

Yeah, it only makes you think about what else could go wrong... The idea is to make you feel better that it has not all gone wrong yet... But it does not work...
