As previous answerers have stated, it's in your family somewhere. Here's a true blood type story to calm your fears.

I am A+. My ex-husband is O+. Our daughter is A-. BUT my younger brother is O-, which means I for sure am carrying the recessive gene. My daughter the A- married, and her husband is B+. Their oldest daughter is AB-. Their youngest baby girl is AB+. ( I know this because I was the labor coach & there when they typed the babies)

So you can see how in just 2 generations how far removed & remixed the types got from me, the grandma.

(ps-my daughter detested the Rhogam shots, but she had to do it not knowing baby's blood type)

For a refresher, there are 4 blood varieties: A, B, AB, and O+. Many pregnant females carry a fetus with a blood type different from their very own, for this reason, your blood type could have not something to do with your mom's blood type. this is going to take some explaining. There are 3 blood genes: A, B, and O. (i bypass to forget related to the + and - area of this.) A and B are dominant, and O is recessive. You inherit one blood gene out of your mom and one out of your father. the blend of genes determines your blood type. There are 4 opportunities: A, B, AB, and O. this is the way it particularly works: A + A = A A + O = A A + B = AB B + B = B B + O = B O + O = O So i assume the sanatorium have been given it incorrect or you inherited a sort out of your ancestors who had a B. in the experience that your father grew to become into completely A with out different substitute, then you definately possibly could've inherited it.

I just checked a few web sites and they are stating that it isn't possible-that your child has to be O. O blood type is the absence of A or B in the blood, so there is no way to get a B+ child with two A parents. Perhaps you are not both 0 or the test on the child was wrong. maybe check with the pediatrician. Good luck!

There is no way it is possible. Either one of the three blood tests was wrong or there was some kind of mutation. Two people with blood type O will *always* have a baby with blood type O because O is recessive to everything else. (You *could* have a baby with type O- because you could each be carrying a negative recessive gene.)

It's not possible. Here is a link that will explain it:

Contrary to what previous responders have said, there is no recessive/dominant influence in blood typing. Your son cannot inherit his blood type from anyone except you and your husband.

Is it possible that your husband isn't the father? If he absolutely is the father, is it possible that his blood type is different than O+?

Good luck!

If I remember correctly from my college zoology class, the only blood type a baby from an O+ mother and an O+ father is O+. Maybe your husband is mistaken about his blood type.

Either you have the wrong daddy or your husband really doesn't know what blood type he is.
I would of course assume you know yours cause they go thru all that at the hospital when you have a baby. But I question why he would know his blood type? Most men I know have no clue what type they are. He must really be either an AB or a B.

Blood type is caused by a sort of "flag" (called "antigen") on the red blood cells. These antigens are coded for by two genes in this blood group system (the ABO blood groups)... one from the mom and one from the dad.

If mom has blood group O (ie. she has O, O antigens) she will pass on an O

If dad has blood group O (ie. he has O, O antigens) he will also pass on an O

If son has blood group B (ie. he has B,O or B,B) then one (or maybe both) of you are mistaken about your blood groups...

The other alternative lies in the fact that 10% of pregnancies have been demonstrated to be of alternative paternity.

Another vote for impossible. O *is* the recessive. If you are both O, neither of you have any A or B antigens... the only gene either of you could pass is O, resulting in a O baby. Baby could be + or - depending on if you guys are O+O+ or O+O-, but baby has to be O if you are both O. One or more of you has been mistyped.

Have both of your blood types checked. What you discribe is not biologically possible.

Hope they didn't give you the wrong baby in the hospital!
