I have a desktop(cable modem) and a wireless laptop, already setup and sharing a printer, however, I forgot how the "geeksquad agent" advised me to print a document from my laptop to the shared printer. The printer is connected to a desktop. Also do i need the desktop online to print?

It's possible that the printe is hooked up to your desktop and that you are connecting to it that way.

If that is the case, your desktop will need to be on.

Go to control panel and open your printer and faxes folder. Check if the printer you want to use is designated as default printer. Make sure the printer is connected to the computer and is on. On your laptop, do the same thing.

u would need to have a router as well for ur desktop and laptop to comm together. not sure if u have one.
in loose terms, u would need to enable file and printer sharing on your desktop. then from ur laptop, add the printer as a printer attached to another computer. from there, u would be able to print wirelessly to your printer.
and yes, your desktop would need to be turned on for you to print wirelessly

Well, you should be able to just send it to the printer, but, obviously that isn't happening. And, since I don't print from my wireless laptop, afraid I can't help you.
