Good question Dreamer. Everyone seems to have a mental concept of 'spirit' but to explain that concept to others isn't easy. I asked my daughter what she thought. She replied, "A definition of spirit always eludes me. We know it's there and we have a simple understanding of why but can anyone truly explain it?"

A few words that come to mind:
The energy field of the divine monad
That small still voice that whispers through our soul
The breath of God
Electricity of such a high vibration its hum is barely perceptible
Cohesion--that sphere which permeates us and in which we live and breath and have our being
The cosmic song
The mind of God

Would love to hear your ideas, Dreamer :-)

The word Spirit means to me the spirit of God that lives in us. In our soul. I believe in it by faith, as I have no proof, but if I listen quietly and let it guide me, it's always right, even if I am wrong. I guess I was taught that, but I have examined all of my teachings and I still believe each of us is just a spirit in a human form and I picture when we die, we all spin like a big tornado into a really big spirit, the spirit of God. I am not sure Heaven is paved with golden streets or we will know each other, but I do believe in it and I believe only people with a good and clean spirit (By doing the best you can and accepting Jesus as your savior, the son of God) you will go to this heaven. I am sure the other people who firmly believe in their God may join us, or it may be two spirits. But I don't believe this holy war that is around us, in every dark corner these days is coming from a good spirit.

It's pure presence.
it's that something that feels peaceful
even during turmoil.
It's also the recognition that
you are me and I am you.
It's that connection to all of life
& the thing that animates all life.

Spirit can be expressed by the greeting "namaste," meaning:

The Spirit in me meets the same Spirit in you.
I greet that place where you and I are one.
I salute the Light of God in you.
I bow to the divine in you.
I recognize that within each of us is a place where Divinity dwells, and when we are in that place, we are One.
