If you have Miicrosoft Word you can use an equation editor. First click on INSERT then click on OBJECT. Then click on Microsoft Equation 3.0. This program has many math symbols.

Use capital X for multiplication (sometimes an asterik * is used).

Use a / for division (Ex: 5 divided by 7 = 5/7)

Use + for addition and - for subtraction.

Use ^ for exponents (Ex: x squared = x^2)

Use lots of parenthesis for clarity ( 2+3*6/4 should be 2+((3*6)/4)

Make sure the work flows easily for the reader.

You can type math using your symbols on your keyboard such as - = + also you have your brackets () your greater and less then symbol <>, etc. There is an unlimited supply of numbers from 1 to infinity at the right hand side of your keypad!! Good luck and wonder if this is your way to cheat in Math class, ha ha!!

The plus, minus and equal keys are next to the backspace on the top row of the keyboard to the right. *, above the number 8, is used for multiplication. The slantbar, /, is used for division.

If you mean what is the best term (presumably "math" vs "mathematics") to use to run a google search, I think the shorter term is the better since "math" is contained in "math" and in "mathematics" but "mathematics" is not contained in "math".

x^2 means "x-squared"

sqrt(g) means "square-root of g"

cbrt(g) means "cube-root of g"

(u)^(3/2) means "u to the three-halves power"

ln (a) means "natural log of a"

f(-1)(x) means "f-inverse"

sin(th) means "sine of theta"

Int (6 to 8) {5x dx} mean "Integral from 6 to 8 of 5x*dx"

h'(x) means "h-prime of x" or "the first derivative of h"

lim [r ---> 5] {7 + r} means "limit as r approaches 5 of "7 + r"
